Ian qualified from Glasgow in 1987. He spent four years working in Oral & Maxillofacial surgery in Birmingham, Liverpool and Bath. He moved into General Dental Practice in Somerset in 1991, moved to South Molton in 1994 prior to setting up Torrington Dental Practice in 1997 whilst also working part-time at North Devon District Hospital in the Oral Surgery Department. Ian works part-time at the Peninsula Dental School as a Honorary Lecturer and Clinical Supervisor.

Ian has undertaken extensive post-graduate training in implant dentistry and was recently awarded the Diploma in Implant Dentistry and a higher certificate in Advanced Implant Surgery from Royal College of Surgeons. Is is currently studying towards his MSc in Implant Dentistry at Queen Mary's University, London.

Ian's special interests include oral surgery, Dental Implants and sedation.

John qualified from Guys Hospital in 1987. He has worked in General Practice since then, working first in North Kent, where he gained a lot of experience in treating nervous and phobic patients before moving to North Devon in 2002 to join Torrington Dental Practice.

John's special interests include the dental care of the elderly including offering a domicilary service, cosmetic dentistry and tooth bleaching

Zena qualified from Guys Hospital in 1986 and spent three years working in Oral Surgery during which time she gained her Fellowship Exam from the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow. She undertook a further three years postgraduate degree in Orthodontics and was awarded Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in Orthodontics in 1993. During this time she also obtained a Masters of Science Degree.

Zena divides her time between Specialist Practice in Barnstaple and working in her own practice in Torrington.

Rhys qualified from the University of Wales, Cardiff in 1996. He has worked in general practice in South Wales and Bristol and also as a part-time clinical assistant in minor oral surgery in Cardiff. He and his wife moved to North Devon in 2004 when he joined Torrington Dental Practice.

Rhys has recently been awarded a post graduate Diploma in Conscious Sedation from the University of Newcastle.  He is one of only a handful of dentists in the South of England to have been awarded this diploma and receives referrals from dentists in the South West to treat anxious patients who are unable to receive treatment conventionally.

Rhys is an Immediate Life Support Instructor and has lectured in medical emergencies and sedation for the National Examination Nursing Board Certificate Course.
